Does Keepmark have a mobile app?

Accepted Answer

No. Currently Keepmark is a desktop application only. However, documents are stored in a user-accessible form and can be synchronized with mobile devices, e.g., using services like Drobox or the WebDav protocol.

Unlike most currently available services, Keepmark does not store your files on their servers. The data is yours and it is up to you to decide if you want to store it in the cloud and which one to choose.

If you want to create notes on your phone you can use one of the markdown editors available for your phone (e.g. Markor for Android) and store the files in a folder syncronized with Keepmark.

However, I do not exclude that in the future there could be a mobile application that would make it easier to work with documents on such devices.

Why are there such limitations?

It seemed to me to be the best and easiest way to limit the full functionality of the application for the purpose of presenting its features, without introducing additional mechanisms to the application that somehow reduce the privacy of users who have paid for the Keepmark's license (e.g. by verifying the license online at application startup).

How To Request A Refund?

If the application has not met your expectations, you can ask for a refund. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to do this. To request a refund, write to me at admin@keepmark.io. I will try to make the return within a few hours after receiving the message.

It will be very helpful if you write to me what caused the request for refund. This will allow me to know which aspects of the application I should focus on while developing it.

After the time to refund has expired, you will receive a second (unlimited) license by email. You can find out more about this in Why did I get the second key?

Why did I get the second key?

The two-key mechanism is related to the refund policy. After purchasing the application you have 14 days to ask for a refund, but with the application I want to deliver the keys that do not require additional verification on the Internet. The only solution is to provide a time-limited key, which after the expiry of the refund period will be transformed into an unlimited key.

When you make a purchase, 2 keys are generated. The first of them - a 30-day one - is sent to you when you buy the application. The second becomes active after 2 weeks from the date of purchase. It is then sent automatically, to the email address provided when making the purchase.

If the application has access to the Internet and sees that the first 30-day key slowly expires (or has expired), then at the start of the application the unlimited key is downloaded.

Who is selling this software?

I am the author of Keepmark, but the sales process is handled by FastSpring. The company charges a certain fee for each sale, but it's also a great convenience for me because I don't have to deal with detecting the country of sale of the service and accounting for VAT on my own.

In Keepmark you can configure default author for new notes. It can be helpful, when you want to discover if note is created by you, or copied from external source. This operation you can do in Application Settings.

How to add relations to selected document?

In Keepmark you can add relations for an existing document, to other documents, tasks, or people. This can be done through the side panel of an open document.

Activity feed is one of dashboard widgets. It displays your recent activity within selected Workspace.

(1) - Here you can see latest activity in Workspace (from newest to oldest)
(2) - You can switch do "daily" view, where you can explore activities for selected date.
(3) - If documents or tasks are present, the link to it has a blue color - you can click it to quick open selected document
(4) - some links may be inactive (gray) - in this case documents weren't found in repository, so you can't click it.
(5) - You can log your custom events that happens during your work day (use shift+enter to add new line to note). Then you can switch do "daily view" (2) and for example report your custom events on daily team meetings.
(6) - You can also edit or remove your custom events.

How to work with External Tools?

In Keepmark you can configure other external tools to work with. Mainly, I can be other applications, or shell scripts run for the selected document. Before you start you should configure them in Application Settings.

Here on screen you can see configuration for Typora (which is a very good markdown editor).

On list you can see configured tools, with option to edit them or remove.

How to work with Tags?

Tags are one of the basic tools for organizing documents. When working with tags in Keepmark, you can start by defining a list of tags for a given workspace, or simply create them by assigning to documents right away. All tags assigned to documents will be visible in the application's side-bar, allowing you to quickly filter the list of documents to selected subjects.

The tags component in the side panel makes it easier to get to the documents you need at the moment. Over time the number of tags can be overwhelming, so the component is enhanced with a tag search engine and the ability to group tags as you wish. The view allows you to select multiple tags in a list - so you don't have to browse the list of documents for each tag separately.

Edit tag

A single tag can have various properties. The most important distinction is its name, and that is the one assigned to documents or tasks. To make working with tags easier, you can assign it to a selected group. If you want to create a new group, simply enter its name.

You can assign keywords to tags. Keywords help in automatically selecting tags for a given document, or task. With keywords associated with a tag, Keepmark will make better suggestions for tags too when assigning them to documents.

Select multiple documents on documents list and open context menu by right click.
Select Tags menu item to see haw you can manage tags for selected documents.
Edit tags for selected documents.
Auto assign tags to documents - in this option Keepmark will try to assign tags to selected documents based on existing tags and assigned keywords to it (comparing it with document content).
Remove all tags from selected documents.
